The Shark Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum IY143H delivers solid budget cleaning performance, provided owners accept its lower-tier compromises.
Get this if you want a lightweight pet vacuum for smaller spaces, but pass if you need deep carpet cleaning and long runtimes.
Owners consistently report that this model is positioned as a budget-friendly option, trading away premium features like flexible wands and multi-speed controls to hit a lower price point. While the cleaning capability on hard floors and everyday messes earns widespread praise, the lack of power on regular mode means owners frequently rely on the boost trigger for heavy-duty spots. The lightweight design, self-cleaning brushroll, and LED headlights make daily maneuvering effortless for smaller homes and apartments.
However, compromises are evident in daily use. The vacuum struggles with thicker carpets and deep dirt extraction. Maintenance brings frustration when long hair wraps around the internal dust bin filter rather than clearing the brushroll, forcing owners to manually pull it out. Additionally, battery life draws mixed feedback, with runtimes fitting quick cleanups but falling short for larger properties.
Owners Love
- +Lightweight and maneuverable design that reduces cleaning effort
- +Effective self-cleaning brushroll that handles pet hair without tangles
- +HEPA filtration that noticeably improves air quality
- +Helpful LED headlights that illuminate hidden dirt and debris

After 6–12 Months
Owners note a noticeable decrease in battery performance over several months of regular use. Long-term durability reports also highlight occasional suction loss, though Shark customer service is frequently cited as helpful with warranty replacement parts.

What owners report, topic by topic
Cleaning Performance
Owners find suction solid for everyday messes and hard floors, but note it lacks the power needed for deep carpet cleaning without using the trigger boost.
Pet Hair Handling
The self-cleaning brushroll successfully minimizes hair tangles, though owners frequently have to manually clear hair that wraps around the internal filter.
Battery Life
Runtime satisfies quick cleanups in smaller spaces, but owners with larger cleaning tasks find the battery discharges too quickly and takes hours to recharge.
Design and Usability
The lightweight build, easy handheld conversion, and LED headlights make the vacuum simple to maneuver, though the lack of a flexible wand or wall mount frustrates some owners.
